Using a very simple freeware device, and a subscription to shoutcast.com, Choppercat is hosting a streaming radio station from the desktop PC at home.

At the moment, this is a listener-only broadcast of media sounds traveling through my soundcard. I do not have any microphone or vocal broadcasting ability. Also, there is no song information at the moment.

SimpleCast SimpleCast takes audio from your line-in, microphone or even any audio being played over your soundcard and then encodes this audio in real-time to be streamed over the internet to listeners across the world - all with a single click of a button.
This application is not only easy to use, but aslo extremely powerful ...
Metadata adaptors allows external applications to send song and captioning data to SimpleCast. (Already has native support for most major automation systems).
Gather real-time statistics from all your streaming servers so you know how many listeners are connected at any given time and generates song history logs.

SimpleCast is perfect for broadcasting
- Sporting events
- Concerts and Live shows
- Live DJ/Night Club appearances
- Private Parties
- or audio from any music system that does not support internet streaming

DO YOU EVER WANT TO KEEP YOUR ONLINE VIDEOS on your computer? Download
a VIDEO BROWSER/PLAYER from VEOH.com. On your desktop, the browser will store videos, manage downloads and uploads and make playback. CLICK IMAGE to SITE.

There are so many sites to find special interest and cult material and old and new videos. To name a few, youtube.com, ifilm.com, dailymotion.com, peekvid.com and many more.

VEOH.com is the only site that lets you to download the videos and keep them on your computer.

The browser will manage playback but if the media file can be read in other media players you may prefer those for playback. I notice the slightly fuzzy and unsharpened picture that results in the veoh.com media player. Some of the videos downloaded by me, played only in the veoh browser. Something about file codecs, I guess.

PANDORA's BOX Contained a Transmission: INTERNET MUSIC STREAM/RADIO

FREE No Commercial/AD Page PLAYBACK WITH FREE PANDORA Internet Radio.

PANDORA is available for when you are at your computer at work, home or in the airport for several hours and suddenly want to hear a song or artist and continue with something similiar to that sound. You can visit and use the application without even signing up. Just follow the top page directions to start the song based on your input and continuing answers to queries. Eventually your first song becomes a RADIO STATION and the rest of the songs generate similiar artists and songs based on algorithyms of melody, vocal, pitch and rates.

You can record your first input and listen by signing up a short and simple form to receive a username, password and account for log-in.

Your first station of 100 stations based on song or artist, and continuing the generation of similiar art for that station, collect or stack. Starting with two stations you can MIX IT UP. Two styles of station will start to intertwine the playback for more variety. With each additional station you increase the variety your ears will be receiving for hours and hours of playback.

An account page that saves songs and other information includes a site-user comparison to others with interests in same stations. You can send an message to Friend.

This is simply good music and playback is amazingly crisp and clear and very wide acoustically.

This is also a simple station to use and a force in building a music community.

Try it out.  More often you will hear a good selection of the songs or selections by artist that strikes your mood. Perhaps more than last.fm but the risk of juggling variety and extensive catalogue of decades of music hasn't poppped into my headphones at last.fm.

I have not discovered any charts keeping track of top songs, for site or indiviuals. Maybe just need to search more.

Enjoy.

A LIKE/LIKE Radio with little community-building effort.

Help Internet Radio Avoid Extinction

Help Internet Radio Avoid Extinction

Corporate interests are hard at working making sure you don't have a choice because they make more money when you have no choices.

Protect Your Right To Diversity

Protect your right to hear eclectic indepenent radio and discover new artists. You can save Internet radio with less than five minutes of your time. Write your congressional representative today.
Pass the word to anyone you know that loves or makes music. Also,
please bookmark this page and check back frequently for updates. We
need your continued support and action as the situation further
develops.

Tell your representative:

I
do not support The Copyright Royalty Board's (CRB) March 2nd decision
to substantially increase royalty rates. Not only will it impact my
choices, but the Recording Industry Association of America's (RIAA)
manipulation of these rates, and the CRB's indifference will hurt
working artists, damage small record labels and force law abiding small
webcasters, already paying a large portion of their revenue per month
in royalties, out of business. This decision will also damage hundreds
of small businesses providing goods and services to working artists,
small record labels and small webcasters.

I respectfully ask that you evaluate the CRB decision and do whatever
is necessary to establish a reasonable royalty rate for all the parties
involved.

Who, What and When

On March 2, 2006, The CRB approved royalty rates that will bury any small webcaster, and create a heavy burden even for big broadcasters like Yahoo, AOL Music and Pandora.
How high will these rates be? Around 100% of a small webcasters revenue, give or take
a few points, in most cases. What?! That's impossible to pay! Yep, it sure is..

How did this happen? The RIAA told the CRB thats what they wanted, and the CRB just gave it to them.

Your're probably thinking, hey that's awful, but who are the the RIAA and CRB?

RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) is a lobbying group formed by the five largest record labels. They are embedded in Washington D.C.
They make sure laws are written to keep them rich, no matter what. They made headlines a few years ago opening
lawsuits against elderly people, single mothers and children for
trading music online, even though some of them didn't even have
computers
. Check out the
latest RIAA headlines.

The CRB (Copyright Royalty Board) is part of the US Copyright Office. The Board is charged with determining the royalty rates that
would be determined by a willing buyer and a willing seller in a marketplace transaction. They decided to jack the rates beyond a broadcasters means
despite decades of royalty rates being 1 - 2% of broadcaster revenue
. Raise your right hand
if
you want to take away consumer choice, hurt working artists, damage
small record labels and put small webcasters out of business
.

Scrobble and Grow your MUSICAL RADIO ONLINE

Invalid video URL.Hi All:Last.fm Logo

The last three paragraphs are lifted off last.fm webpages and contain links to locate the information.

There is a lot to absorb about last.fm but if you love your taste in music and are also looking for more ways to get exposed to old hits and new music, you will find it organic before too long.

At the start, you have to help with a lot of input in the form of your favorite music genre i.e. alternative, classical, etc. but this is too vague. So input a search on all your favorite artists, one after another, until you have about 30 or 50 inputs, your players isn't going to reflect you too closely just based on genre selections.

Soon, your station starts to reflect you because of another feature called scrobbling. Audioscrobbling is a plug-in invented in UK and utilized by last.fm and not exclusive to one media player. Although my winamp has the plug-in, it does not work, while my Windows Media Player on my desktop sends live updates with each track played to my personal web page or dashboard at last.fm.

My personal page includes friends list of people who choose to be among your list. Neighbors, by artist interests tabulated and not physical geography, live in China for example.

You get a desktop browser so with your internet connection open you can visit your radio stations, yes stations, without opening your web browser. Online you can visit your dashboard and play from page or open a floating widget FLASH player.

Your stations includes Personal station, Neighbors Station (listen and be an aural voyeur), Friends stations, and Loved Tracks Stations. Both your personal station and Loved tracks stations take time to build over several months. Loved Tracks require you to visit the player and click and LOVE THIS SONG. Later, you can find tracks you like immediately by scanning through your LOVE tracks one track at a time. Use the forward or SKIP button to do this.

Once you have several months, an hour or more of listening should include tracks from your own desktop played, tracks you searched for by artist or song, artists that are similiar in genre and always something unexpected like from the thirties, fifties pop, a classical piece, etc.

You will not get a similiar playback unless its your LOVeD TRACKS radio.

There are EMBEDD codes for every station so you plug-in your blog to your stations, your neighbors, your friends and more.

You also will see CHARTS on your dashboard. These very from Recently Played tracks, WEEKLY Top Artists (Yours), Overall TOP 100 (Yours) or go to Last.fm Central and find out the sites TOPS. All these charts can post to your blog by RSS Feeds or Visual chart embedded in blog.

With your recently played tracks and top tracks, a visual collage of album art will accumulate in several rows and change more as you play. It is called a Music Quilt. These too, are available for your blog. Here is an example of my recently played.
Show media Loading...

You can tag your songs and a station will be created based on tags. You and every one else using that tag contribute that song to the station.

Finally, you can program and contribute NEW SONGS to the listener queue and end up with a last.fm site TOP HIT. My song currently in the blast was introduced to the site by me and maybe 5 others last week and is now HOT HOT HOT with a bullet. Called ICE CREAM by Muscles, visit http://www.musclesmusic.com for background.

Background: You can write to forums, joins groups and journal from your dashboard. You can write and contribute to an artists details or biography.

LET ME KNOW YOUR EXPERIENCES by comments.
